Many people thinking about getting away from their lives in the UK and escaping the cities will often immediately plan on heading over to Spain or France to find a beautiful spot for some peace and quiet. They will do this, not realising that there are hundreds of Europe’s most delightful and most scenic areas in the UK. So before you convince yourself that you need to jump on the internet and search for cheap holidays abroad from the UK , why not have a look at some of Britain’s most beautiful areas?

One place in the UK to get away from everything is Anglesey. Featuring more than 125 miles of stunning coastline and sandy beaches that seem to never end, Anglesey is one of Britain’s most tranquil and picturesque regions. It also features a significant number of archaeological and historical sites making it a must-see for history buffs. This is because the area has been constantly inhabited since the stone ages and there are remnants of communities from every age since.

Indeed a tour of Anglesey reveals evidence of ancient remains from the prehistoric era to Christian and Roman remains (most particularly the world renowned Bryn Celli Ddhu Neolithic burial site). Anglesey is also famous for having been the last stronghold and community for the druids who were sadly finally annihilated there in 63AD by the Romans. However, there remain some fascinating sites of Druid worship and a number of ancient symbols used by them are still in evidence. It is for this reason that if you tour Anglesey by coach you will notice more than a few campervans and beetles on the roads as modern day ‘druids’ make their own mini-pilgrimages to the area.

However, more than history, Anglesey remains a destination perfectly suited to unwinding and getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life. In the distance you will see Snowdon but it is the untouched farmlands, white sand bays, charming villages and awe-inspiring sea views that will force an unconscious relaxing of the shoulders and a slowing of the breath. Indeed once you are there you will never want to leave. Once you’ve crossed Robert Stephenson’s Britannia Bridge the natural beauty and charm of Anglesey will stay with you for life. The entire region has been declared an area of outstanding natural beauty and the Red Wharf and Newborough beaches are famous all over the world. Lastly of course there is Beaumaris resort with the moat wrapped castle and the streets of Georgian architecture. From Trearddur Bay to the mansion at Plas Newydd, a tour of Anglesey will stay with you for life.

Angus is an astoundingly beautiful part of Scotland that shows visitors a genuine glimpse of that ‘classic’ Scotland that you normally see in the TV adverts and the tourism brochures. It is a county made up of stunning rolling farmland (known for its fertile conditions) and brown and red fields set in front of low green valleys, undulating hills and romantic, historic glens as well as some splendid coastline – all in the shadow of the imposing Grampian mountains.

If you’re heading to Scotland for a coach tour then make sure you find yourself a Scottish coach tour company that can take you around the region’s hundreds of historical sites. Indeed you almost need an entire holiday just to take in the history of Angus. That’s because it was a home for the Pict tribes from 600 to 800AD and there are consequently endless fascinating Pict sites and Pict stones and symbols that remain intact in the region today.

Angus rolls across from Dundee all the way to the furthest reaches of the highland borders and includes exciting and vibrant cities, unspoiled beaches of white sand and craggy coastline, mountain peaks from picture postcards and idyllic nature filled bays. Travelling by coach is the only way to get around the region as it enables you to get up close to this wonderful scenery. Some highlights include Montrose, where there is a world famous RSPB Natural Wildlife Reserve (which has also deservedly been declared an area of outstanding natural beauty) and this reserve gets bird loving visitors from all over the planet. These days even the central city of Dundee, formerly a run down and dour Scottish poor cousin, is now experiencing a renaissance, celebrating its industrial heritage and its place in history as the home of Desperate Dan and bringing in visitors to the stunning and quiet beaches of Broughton Ferry. If you’re going to visit, try and get into the city for the Annual Blues Festival which attracts some of the world’s great Blues artists. There are some lovely old hotels in Dundee and if you’re on a budget look out for a Travelodge discount code on the internet – there are some good deals running year round. If you do spend a couple of nights you’ll discover a city with an exciting and up and coming nightlife as a new wave of restaurants and bars begins to populate the city.

No matter if you want to watch Golf at the famous Carnoustie Links (attracting champions since the 16th century) or head out for a healthy hike on the high Munro, or simply relax with a picnic in the delightful Lunan Bay or watch the sun set over the awesome Boddin Point, Angus has it all. Make sure you include it in your coach tour of Scotland.

Before you go pouring through the same old travel brochures planning your usual package holiday to Spain this year, how about considering a coach tour of some of the most stunning and famous parts of your own country that you have always thought about seeing but never got around to doing. Once such region is the county if Berkshire.

Perhaps you are bored with your current social status and fancy hob-nobbing with some of the country’s movers and shakers? If you’ve realised your friends are all riff-raff and you want to meet a superior class of Englishmen then Berkshire is the place for you. Home to everyone from Prime Ministers and Royal Family, fund managers and bankers Berkshire has been producing landed gentry for thousands of years and has been squeezing out Tories and toffs, royals and rulers since the 11th century. Consequently it is also a beautiful and fascinating area to tour about – from the world famous Eton college town and its famous, or infamous, school to Windsor castle, home to everyone’s favourite grandmother, the Queen of England. In addition to these famous sights, Berkshire is also the location of some of the country’s most visited, and most loved tourist attractions.

Firstly, there is Windsor Castle itself, an architectural and historical wonder that even the most passionate of republicans will not be able to resist. No visit to the UK or tour of England would be complete without stopping to see the changing of the guard and the elegant and ornate state rooms as well as the simply romantic and historic architecture of the castle itself. But throughout Bedfordshire you’ll see even more incredible history – unsurprising as it’s one of the UK’s oldest counties which has been a county since King Alfred first set it boundaries in ancient times. From the Old Granaries of King Charles II found in Newbury to the Iron Age Walbury Hill Fort and from the numerous sites of Roman history and remains to the museums and galleries of Roman art and artefacts; from touring Eton college (first established in 1440 and amongst the oldest schools and school buildings in the UK) to Highclere Castle; from Ashdown House to Lambourn it will seem that every magical and ancient corner of Berkshire is worth exploring.

If you need somewhere to stay for the night then where better than Reading, a bustling and exciting city with a young nightlife and a wonderful arts and culture scene. The city itself offers some grand old buildings and grand old hotels though if you are looking for somewhere cheap to stay all the usual chains operate year-round deals and there are some good hostels. If you want a bit more nature then head out to the Thames and along the enchanting Ridgeway National Trail; hike the downs and stop off at Thatcham Nature Discovery Centre or visit the Living Rain Forest. It is not because of the Royal Family alone that this county is referred to as ‘Royal Berkshire’ – it is also the stately and elegant scenery and buildings that you will see around every corner.
